Bushrod Genealogy

My name is Denise (Bushrod) Coppin, I am a descendent of the Dorset BUSHROD family. After several years of tracing my husbands family I decided to have a go at my own. With a fairly unusual surname I thought the task would be easy - How very wrong I was. However with the help of family members both new and old and many friends made along the way progress was quickly made and a tree started to form, that was until I became aware of the American connection and the tree became a forest in which you could very easily become lost.

There appears to be a great deal that has been published on the web about the family on various genealogy sites such as Ancestry.com, Roots World Connect and Kindred Konnections. Much of this data appears to be accurate and well sourced but there is still a great deal which is in question or blatantly wrong. With the help of my husband Tony (and why not - I helped him) we have gathered a large percentage of this data together and created one family tree which we have published here on the web for interested parties to inspect and let us know if they consider at least their lines to be accurate. We know there are many errors and in places wild assumption have been made where no other alternative was on offer. We hope that by bringing all of this data together in one place we may be able to finally unite all the cousins descending from the BUSHROD's of Dorset England.

The tree is not openly available on the net and will not be submitted to any search engines until we are happy that it paints something like a true picture. The site contains sensitive data as living persons have not been removed, I hope that this is not an issue as the site will only be available on invitation. We are fully aware of the "Data Protection Act" and will remove any data on request. We would rather not make this information generally available in gedcom format at the present time for if it were to be published on one of the genealogy sites it would just increase the amount of inaccurate data already there.

We are quite happy to share the infomation with family members and interested parties but we do ask for assurance that it will not be published as it stands with so many potential errors. Please let us know if you would like a gedcom file. You may of course extract any data that you know to be true and use it as you wish. Please remember to respect the privacy if the living.

This data has been submitted to "Roots WorldConnect Project" in order to generate an interest and attract researchers to this site. All "Living" data has been removed and it is not possible to download any data from there in gedcom format.
